The North Lanark Highland Games are preparing to bring a full day of Scottish tradition, music and competition to the region, with organizers inviting residents and visitors to take part in the annual celebration.
The games showcase a wide range of Highland culture and entertainment, including traditional music, dancing and athletic competitions. The event also offers an opportunity for families to experience Scottish heritage and connect with local community groups.
For organizer, Julia Duncan, the games are about more than simply preserving tradition — they’re also about creating a welcoming community event that attracts people of all ages.
The event features traditional Highland athletics, with competitors taking part in events that have long been associated with Scottish games, along with performances and other activities throughout the day. Organizers say the event has become an important annual gathering for the North Lanark community, drawing both returning visitors and people attending for the first time.
The North Lanark Highland Games also provide a chance to learn more about Scottish heritage while enjoying live entertainment and the atmosphere of a traditional Highland gathering. Organizers are encouraging people from across Lanark County and eastern Ontario to come out, enjoy the activities and support the volunteers who make the event possible. As Almonte is known as the friendly town, the Games have adopted the same moniker and Duncan says it’s an event not to miss.
With music, competition, dancing and plenty of Scottish tradition on the schedule, the North Lanark Highland Games promise a lively celebration of culture and community.Children are admitted free and there will be licensed libation facilities for the adults.
