The OPP reports that two people have been arrested and charged in connection with the death of 50-year-old Rose Kerwin, who had been reported missing on November 13th.
Her body had been found in the Mississippi River near the Village of Pakenham.
56 year-old Marcel Lapensee from Carleton Place, and 23 year-old Samantha Osborne from Iroquois, have been charged with First Degree Murder in the case.
In a separate investigation, both accused have also been charged in relation to a sexual assault of another victim, which was reported to the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on November 15, 2023, with the following offences:
- Forcible confinement, section 279(2) CC
- Sexual assault, section 271 CC
- Uttering threats – cause bodily harm, section 264.1(1)(a) CC
Both were being held pending a bail hearing Wednesday.
