Lanark County council’s agreed to fund the expansion of the Almonte ambulance base to include room for two additional bays.
President and CEO of the Almonte General Hospital Mary Wilson Trider says there’s lots of benefits to expanding their base, which before the fire last March, sat two ambulances indoors and one outside.
Their insurance company is covering the costs of restoring the base but not the expansion as that doesn’t fall under their responsibility.
Wilson Trider felt it was a good time to do the construction all at once.
The county will cover the cost up to $750,000.
