Lanark County is set to enter a one-year pilot project with Lanark Transportation Association to address patient transfers at area hospitals.
CAO Kurt Greaves says this will free up paramedics and ambulances alike.
The LTA will transfer low acuity patients to one of four Lanark County hospitals for a fee of $300 per day. The LCPS estimate the cost of patient transfers for them is over $1,000 per call.
Greaves says taking this pressure from the LCPS is a win-win.
58% of the patient transfers completed by the LCPS in 2025 were low acuity, with transfers taking up 36% of all calls received.
