The race for mayor in Perth is growing, with Councillor Isabel Anne McRae becoming the third person to step forward.
McRae announced she is running for mayor, saying she is ready to begin a new chapter after four years on council.
In a statement, McRae said her campaign is driven by “a renewed sense of purpose” and a deep commitment to the community.
She said she wants to use her experience, passion and dedication to help move Perth forward.
“I invite you to join me on this journey, to share your hopes and concerns, and to collaborate in shaping a brighter future for our town,” McRae said.
She added that Perth can build on past successes while creating a future that reflects shared values and a common vision.
McRae joins two previously announced unofficial candidates in the mayoral race.
Current Councillor David Bird has also stepped forward. It is his first time running for mayor.
Stephanie Drummond is also in the race. It will be her second run for the mayor’s chair.
Current Mayor Judy Brown has not yet said whether she will seek another term.
Candidates have until Aug. 24 to file their nomination papers.
The municipal election is set for Oct. 26.
The growing field means Perth voters could have several choices when they head to the polls this fall.
