The Perth and District Union Public Library has the answers for parents dreading the summer school break when children will be complaining, “there’s nothing to do”! Their summer calendar is up and jam packed with a variety of activities, both inside and outside of the building to challenge and engage almost every interest.
From reading contests, where children can earn chances to win a new bicycle from Canadian Tire, to eco and nature workshops, to magicians, there are plenty of reasons to visit and stay. Heidi Taber, the library specialist for children and youth services, says making the library part of a regular routine will make for an enjoyable and educational summer break.
And as an added bonus, all of the events are free, although some require preregistration. To help parents save even more, the library has a great selection of facility passes to let families enjoy area provincial parks, museums and art galleries for free.
You can find all the details on a summer full of fun for children, and adults as well, at perthunionlibrary.ca. Now you have the answer to “what can we do today?”. You can listen to our entire conversation with Taber who provides all the details below.
