The Smiths Falls Kinsmen Club is giving residents another way to support local projects through a growing 50/50 fundraiser.
The draw is one of the club’s latest efforts to raise money for community programs, youth supports and local events. President Larry McIntosh says the club recently completed a major step that will make future fundraising easier.
McIntosh says the current 50/50 draw has been running for about a month, with the winner to be picked after Canada Day on July 4.
Vice President Wayne Steggles says the money has not been tied to one specific project, but will help the club continue its work across Smiths Falls and area.
That work includes support for children, students and families.
McIntosh says the club recently approved funding to sponsor one local child going to camp.
The Kinsmen are also known for highly visible community events, including Canada Day celebrations, wing nights and the recent bike rodeo, which saw 87 children take part with help from Smiths Falls police and other emergency services.
McIntosh says the best part of the work is seeing the impact in person.
Steggles says the community continues to show strong support, along with a growing spirit of co-operation between local service clubs.
The Kinsmen are encouraging residents to support the 50/50 draw and local service clubs as they continue building on that momentum.
