A new pop-up art gallery has opened in downtown Smiths Falls, giving residents and visitors another reason to explore the core this summer.
The Big Art Gallery is located at 25 Beckwith Street North, next to Boomtown Fusion Eatery. It will run through July and August with original work from local and regional artists, and many pieces are available to buy.
Downtown Smiths Falls’ Megan McElvenna says the space came together fast, thanks to a community effort.
The gallery was created by the Smiths Falls Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Smiths Falls Business Association, with support from the town.
Organizers say the goal is to celebrate creativity, support artists and bring more people into the downtown.
McElvenna says the show includes a wide range of pieces.
The gallery is open Wednesday through Sunday, with regular hours listed as 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
Artist submissions for August are being accepted until July 10 at [info@smithsfallschamber.ca](mailto:info@smithsfallschamber.ca).
The gallery will also be part of the Big Art Walk and Rideau Artist of the Year event July 25.
