The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police has charged a Smiths Falls woman following an impaired driving investigation in Drummond-North Elmsley Township.
Police say officers responded Wednesday, July 8, to a report of a vehicle in the ditch near Burns Road and Buttermilk Road.
Officers located the vehicle shortly after 6:20 p.m. and learned from a witness that the driver had left the scene. Police say the driver was located a short time later and arrested before being taken to the Lanark County OPP Detachment in Perth for testing.
Tamara Emon, 36, of Smiths Falls, has been charged with operation while impaired by alcohol, failing to report an accident, failing to stop after an accident, driving without a licence, and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Perth court on August 24, 2026.
Police say the driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days under an Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
