The Perth & District Indoor Pool is marking its 50th anniversary this year with a series of community events that celebrate five decades of swimming, recreation and water safety in Perth.
The celebrations culminate in a 50 Years & Counting Anniversary Party on Saturday, August 8, with fundraising efforts also underway to help support improvements to the aging facility for future generations.
Perth’s Director of Community Services, Cathy McNally tells us of one of the main benefits that the pool has brought to residents since the beginning.
McNally noted that pool staff continually monitor trends and needs within the community to bring services and events that keep people coming back.
Highlights of the August 8th anniversary celebration include, an open house from 9 am to 11 am, a commemorative ceremony and bbq beginning at 11 am, with lunch sponsored by A&B Ford Sales Ltd. and a free public swim from 1 pm to 4 pm sponsored by Mike Fair Chevrolet Buick GMC Ltd., (open to swimmers of all ages).
The milestone comes as the community continues to rely on the nearly 50-year-old facility for swimming lessons, fitness programs, lane swims and aquatic clubs. Hear our complete conversation with McNally below.
