A Smiths Falls musician is preparing for one of the biggest performances of his young career after earning a spot among the semifinalists for the 2026 Boots and Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase.
Landon Bedor, a singer-songwriter who was born and raised in Smiths Falls, has been selected as one of eight artists competing for a chance to showcase his music at one of Canada’s biggest country music festivals.
Bedor’s connection to music started when he was nine years old. After learning to play guitar, he quickly developed a passion for songwriting and began building his own sound influenced by country and rock music.
He says artists like Eric Church and Florida Georgia Line helped inspire his musical journey, but over the years he has focused on creating songs that reflect his own experiences.
The song that helped him earn his place in the Boots and Hearts showcase is called “Rust,” which he wrote with Nashville songwriter Jordan Hansinger. The song explores the ups and downs of relationships and the importance of staying committed through difficult times.
Bedor continues to call Smiths Falls home and remains active in the local community. When he is not writing or performing, he works at the YAK Youth Services in Perth.
He has also expanded his knowledge of the music industry through Berklee Online, completing a music business fundamentals program focused on songwriting, live performances, and connecting with audiences.
Along with preparing for Boots and Hearts, Bedor is getting ready to release new music. An acoustic version of his song “Sound the Alarm” will be available on streaming platforms on July 31, just one week before his festival performance.
The release will feature a stripped-down performance with Bedor and his guitar, giving listeners a more personal look at his songwriting.
Bedor regularly performs throughout the area, including shows in Smiths Falls and Perth, and says he is grateful for the support he has received from the community.
As he gets ready to take the stage at Boots and Hearts on Aug. 7, Bedor is hoping to continue sharing his music while representing his hometown on a bigger stage.
