A 39-year-old Smiths Falls resident is facing impaired driving and other charges following a police investigation in Beckwith Township.
Lanark County OPP said officers received a complaint about a possible impaired driver travelling on Highway 15 and located the vehicle shortly before 1 a.m. on July 24.
The driver was arrested and transported to the OPP detachment in Carleton Place for testing.
As a result of the investigation, David Fairbairn, 39, has been charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80, operation while impaired – alcohol, and driving while under suspension.
Fairbairn was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Sept. 14.
Police said the accused’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days under an administrative driver’s licence suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
