Ann Madden has turned family life on the farm into a hands-on business at Northern Cross Farms, located between Westport and Godfrey.
The farm is home to goats, sheep, cows, pigs, chickens, ducks, guinea hens, roosters and a donkey.
Madden uses goat’s milk and beef tallow to create natural soaps, lotions and other products. Family is at the heart of the operation. Her husband helps at markets, while children and grandchildren pitch in with labelling, making products and caring for animals.
With 11 children and 22 grandchildren, Madden says there is almost always someone ready to help around the farm.
