The Perth and District Indoor Pool is getting what could be called a 50-year facelift.
The facility will close from Aug. 16 through Sept. 13 for its annual maintenance shutdown, reopening Monday, Sept. 14.
Crews will carry out several major upgrades aimed at keeping the pool safe and running smoothly. Work includes concrete roof repairs, new pool boilers and upgrades to chemical equipment.
Before the shutdown, the community is invited to celebrate the pool’s 50th anniversary on Saturday, Aug. 8.
The celebration will feature an open house, an anniversary ceremony and a community barbecue sponsored by A&B Ford Sales Limited.
A free public swim, sponsored by Mike Fair Chevrolet Buick GMC, will run from 1 to 4 p.m.
Pool officials are thanking residents for their patience during the month-long closure.
They say the work will help extend the life of the facility while improving the equipment needed to keep swimmers safe and comfortable for years to come.
