Carleton Place Mayor Toby Randell says the town’s commercial scene is continuing to grow, giving residents and visitors more reasons to spend time downtown.
Speaking during Summerfest, Randell said busy community events can play an important role in introducing people to businesses they may not have seen before.
Randell said Summerfest provided an opportunity for people to walk through the downtown, meet local residents and experience the community.
He said Carleton Place’s growth is also reflected in the number and variety of businesses now serving the community.
Randell said that expanding business sector works alongside the town’s parks, trails and Mississippi River waterfront to make Carleton Place more attractive.
He said visitors who discover the community during major events often return later, providing another opportunity for local businesses to benefit.
Randell believes the combination of shopping, recreation and community atmosphere is helping Carleton Place as it continues to grow.
