Smiths Falls is reminding residents that being a good neighbour can prevent many common bylaw complaints.
The town says nuisance concerns often begin with issues between neighbours, including excessive noise, poorly maintained yards, irresponsible pet ownership, litter and inconsiderate parking.
Residents are encouraged to keep their properties clean, control their pets, limit noise and leave enough space when parking.
Anyone dealing with a bylaw concern is asked to speak with their neighbour first when it is safe and appropriate. Town officials say a respectful conversation can often resolve a problem before a formal complaint is needed.
Residents should not confront anyone when they feel threatened or unsafe.

The town says small acts of courtesy can make a major difference in keeping Smiths Falls clean, safe and welcoming for everyone.
