As the cottage season winds down, owners are being reminded that property security is much more than just good locks and cameras as Chance Lauziere-Peterson of Pinnacle Security and Investigations reports.
Rural and seasonal properties can be attractive targets because they may sit vacant for extended periods and can be located away from heavily populated areas.
Recent Lanark County OPP investigations include break-and-enters at rural properties in Mississippi Mills and Lanark Highlands. Lauziere-Peterson notes that cottage owners should check their insurance policies and terms before an event happens.
Professional security patrols can go a long way to bring peace of mind for not only businesses, but for cottage and home owners as well. Getting a group of neighbours together to arrange a group contract can help reduce individual costs.
