A person was taken to hospital after a house collapsed in Lanark Highlands on Tuesday afternoon.
Lanark Highlands Fire Chief Stephen Rothwell told lanarkleedstoday.ca the service responded to McCulloch Road shortly before 1 p.m. after receiving reports of a collapsed residence with one person trapped inside.
Crews arrived around 1:10 p.m. and found the building fully collapsed, with no signs of fire or smoke.
Firefighters, working alongside Lanark County Paramedics and Lanark County OPP, began a rescue operation and successfully removed the occupant from the structure by about 1:30 p.m.
The person was taken to hospital by paramedics. No information has been released about their condition.
The cause of the collapse remains under investigation. The Office of the Fire Marshal was notified and attended the scene.
Lanark Highlands Fire Service thanked the responding agencies for their assistance during the rescue.
