Clients of a Carleton Place nail and spa business are being advised to speak with a health-care provider after an inspection found infection prevention and control concerns.
Southeast Public Health says clients who received manicure, pedicure or waxing services at Galleria Nails, Spa and Eyelashes between July 4, 2023 and Aug. 12, 2026 may have been exposed to equipment that was not properly cleaned and disinfected.
The health unit says those services are generally low risk when proper procedures are followed, but improperly cleaned instruments can potentially transmit blood-borne infections, including hepatitis B, hepatitis C and, to a lesser extent, HIV.
No infection has been linked to the business.
Galleria Nails, Spa and Eyelashes, located at 438 McNeely Ave., has taken corrective measures and now meets infection prevention and control standards.
Southeast Public Health says the risk of infection is low, but recommends affected clients consult a health-care provider about their risk and whether testing is appropriate.
More information, including the infection prevention and control lapse report and frequently asked questions, is available through Southeast Public Health.
