Local musician and University of Ottawa alumnus Andrew Jahn is closing in on his $10,000 fundraising goal for the Lanark County Food Bank, having now raised more than $9,030 through his “Something for Everyone” campaign.
Much of the recent momentum came from Jahn’s “Busking for Everyone” performances outside the Carleton Place Tourism Centre, along with a six-day matching campaign that generated more than $2,000. Anytime Fitness Carleton Place, Knights of Columbus Council 9557, Reid Gardens and arts philanthropist Marg Campbell all matched community donations dollar-for-dollar. Anytime Fitness also organized a food drive.
The campaign has special meaning for Jahn. Between 2019 and 2022, while attending post-secondary school, he relied on the Lanark County Food Bank himself. He is now using his career as a professional musician to support the organization that once helped him.
Jahn works in both popular and classical music and is preparing for his formal debut as a commissioned classical composer in 2027, under the sponsorship of Marg Campbell and mentorship from Juno-nominated composer Iman Habibi.
The fundraiser wraps up with a “Something for Everyone” concert August 29th, from 3 to 5 p.m., at Almonte United Church on Elgin Street.
Chris Hashimoto and Holly Agnew of Limelight Chiropractic and Agnew Law Group will match donations at the door, up to $250. Jahn has a specific goal for the funds raised
