Carleton Place will have a contested race for town council in this fall’s municipal election, but voters won’t choose a mayor or deputy mayor.
Incumbent Toby Randell is the only candidate for mayor, while Andrew Roy Tennant, also an incumbent, is the sole deputy mayor candidate. Both were officially acclaimed Monday.
Eleven candidates are seeking five councillor positions.
The field includes incumbents Mark Hinton, Linda Seccaspina, Dena Comley, Jeff Atkinson and Sarah Cavanagh, along with Ian Dorward, Kory Earle, Paul Frangione, Lori Goulding, Bryant Cougle and Shane O’Neill.
Carleton Place voters will cast their ballots electronically, by internet or telephone, with voting opening October 19th and closing on election day, October 26th.
That means the only competitive race on the Carleton Place ballot, based on the current candidate list, will be for the five council seats. The successful candidates will serve four-year terms beginning November 15th. Find all the details at carletonplace.ca.
