Mike Champagne has been acclaimed as Sherbrooke Ward Councillor in Tay Valley Township.
He was one of two residents who filed nomination paper, Martin Whan being the other, and the ward is represented by two members, so the pair each got acclaimed.
Champagne is excited to get conversations started.
Champagne retired from a sales career earlier this year and decided now is the time to dive into municipal government, something that has always been of interest.
He is hoping to bring fiscial responsibility and encourage open communication as a councillor.
It’s his first go at municipal politics but he’s been campaigning as a residence for some-time about local issues.
Now with the bandwidth to make a mark, Champagne intends to do exactly that.
