Greg Hull says three years of attending Smiths Falls council meetings helped convince him to put his name forward for town council.
Hull is one of the candidates seeking a seat in the 2026 municipal election. Smiths Falls has six council positions available, with voting set for Oct. 26.
He says the idea was first suggested to him several years ago by someone he respected. Hull took the advice to attend a council meeting and gradually became more interested in municipal politics.
Hull says he has spent most of his more than 60 years in Smiths Falls and has watched the community change over time.
He says he wants to contribute to the town and believes his long-term connection to the community gives him an understanding of its challenges and opportunities.
Hull says he is prepared to listen to residents and work to find answers to their concerns.
He says that even if voters don’t elect him, he plans to remain involved in local politics and continue attending council meetings.
