Smiths Falls Police Chief Jodi Empey says the police service is in the final stages of bringing Next Generation 911, or NG911, online.
Empey says the police service is also maintaining a reserve for potential future costs that may not be covered.
That money could be used if the municipality needs to fix, enhance or otherwise support the system after implementation.
They’re working with another Ontario police service to host the system.
Smiths Falls has previously received nearly $295,000 in approved NG911 grant funding,
