General Manager Katherina Khoury
A new home and outdoor show is set to take over the Smiths Falls Curling and Squash Club this weekend, bringing dozens of businesses together under one roof.
The Home and Outdoor Show runs Sept. 19 and 20, with 30 vendors, a barbecue, guest speakers and special offers.
Club manager Katherina Khoury says the first-time event is meant to help residents discover businesses and services available in the region.
Khoury says visitors will find options for projects large and small.
The event is also being pitched as a chance for homeowners to explore ideas in person before committing to work that can carry a significant price tag. Khoury says meeting local service providers face-to-face can help people ask questions and feel more comfortable with their choices.
The show will also feature a speaker program covering local history, recreation and travel.
Khoury says the sessions are intended to broaden the event beyond home improvement.
Presenting sponsor Advantage Tractor will have vehicles on display outside the curling club, while exhibitors will fill the area where the ice would normally be located.
Khoury, who is also a travel agent, will deliver a travel talk, and another travel agent will have a booth at the show.
And she has a heads up for anyone looking for more information.
Organizers are already looking beyond this weekend. Khoury says the goal is to make the Home and Outdoor Show an annual event, with spring and fall editions planned.
Tickets range from $5 to $15 for children, seniors and adults, with online advance purchases encouraged.
