Lanark County businesses are being invited to prepare for what could become one of Eastern Ontario’s biggest cycling tourism draws.
Lanark County and Ontario By Bike will host a free workshop Nov. 9 at the Carleton Place Arena focused on the developing Eastern Ontario Rail Trail Loop.
The planned 320-kilometre off-road route will connect several major trails, including the Frontenac K&P, Renfrew K&P, Algonquin, Ottawa Valley Recreational and Cataraqui trails.
Development is taking place across Renfrew, Frontenac and Lanark counties, along with Rideau Lakes.
Organizers say the loop could become a signature tourism experience and bring more cyclists into communities along the route.
The two-hour session will include project updates, information on business opportunities, guest speakers and networking.
The workshop runs from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Carleton Place Arena on Neelin Street.
Refreshments will also be provided.
