Peter McKenna says voting him for Mayor of Smiths Falls means a seemless transiton into the next four years of work, given that his eight years on council has given him a complete look and inside knowledge of today’s issues.
With an outside candidate, McKenna feels there’s a catch-up period required before big or significant decisions are made as the representative learns the necessary information.
He offered his insight on the long-standing debate between having the town served by the OPP, or sticking with the Smiths Falls Police Service.
With that in mind McKenna said he wouldn’t pursue OPP costing if elected mayor, backing the service the town has now, but also noting that he wouldn’t stop council from moving ahead if the majority of the horseshoe decides to do so.
