A $250,000 Thanksgiving gift will help purchase medical equipment for hospitals in Perth and Smiths Falls.
The Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group has announced a three-year commitment to the Perth & Smiths Falls District Hospital Foundation.
The company, formerly Lanark Mutual, says the donation is a way to thank a community that has been part of its history for 130 years.
President and CEO Tim Shauf says supporting local healthcare is a natural extension of The Commonwell’s commitment to strong rural communities.
The funding will go toward priority equipment for both the Perth and Smiths Falls hospital sites, helping healthcare teams provide care close to home.
Foundation CEO Margot Hallam says the gift will have a lasting impact on local patients and families.
The Foundation notes that government funding does not cover the full cost of all medical equipment, meaning donations play an important role in purchasing new tools and technology.
The Commonwell says the commitment recognizes generations of local families, farmers and businesses that helped shape the company.
