Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating after a two-vehicle collision involving an OPP vehicle in Lanark County left one person seriously injured.
The crash happened shortly before 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, on Highway 7 near Townline Road.
Police say a Lanark County OPP officer was responding to assist with an investigation when the police vehicle was involved in the collision.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 71-year-old from Ottawa, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The officer suffered minor injuries.
The OPP notified Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit, which has invoked its mandate.
As a result, OPP says it cannot provide further details about the circumstances surrounding the crash while the independent investigation continues.
