Thanksgiving is about sharing a meal and spending time together, and the Falls Food Hub in Smiths Falls is making sure everyone has a place at the table.
The organization is hosting a free Thanksgiving community dinner on Tuesday, October 13, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at its Chambers Street location.
It’s the Hub’s first Tuesday evening meal, marking another step forward as the organization expands its community programming.
Operations Lead Ashley Saunders told myFM’s Bob Perreault she’s excited to introduce something new.
The dinner is open to everyone, whether they’re looking for a holiday meal, a chance to meet their neighbours or simply some friendly company.
Saunders says the Hub is about more than providing food. It’s also a welcoming place where people from all walks of life can connect.
The organization already offers regular Monday lunches from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., although there won’t be a lunch on Thanksgiving Monday.
Saunders says introducing evening meals is an important milestone.
The Hub is also preparing for its December holiday meal, which has attracted more than 300 people in previous years.
For now, Saunders hopes residents will come together Tuesday to enjoy a meal and celebrate Thanksgiving as a community.
