Smiths Falls says its latest environmental testing found no evidence the town’s compost site is affecting groundwater or surface water.
The town has submitted its 2026 annual monitoring report to the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks.
The testing program includes regular sampling for hydrocarbons, metals and other indicators required by the province.
According to the town, the laboratory results met applicable standards and did not show impacts from current or historical compost site activity.
Officials also stressed that the compost site monitoring program is separate from the town’s drinking water testing system.
The town says residents can continue to have confidence in the safety of the municipal drinking water supply.
Smiths Falls will continue working with the province on ongoing monitoring requirements.
