People facing addiction and mental health challenges across Lanark, Leeds and Grenville will soon have more options for getting help, thanks to a new HART Hub opening in Brockville on November 9.
The new facility at 280 King St. East joins the existing HART Hub in Smiths Falls, which opened last December.
Together, the two locations will provide 51 beds for addiction treatment, withdrawal management and supportive housing.
Operated by Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Addictions and Mental Health (LLGAMH), the Brockville location will feature 34 beds, including eight for withdrawal management, 16 for residential addiction treatment and 10 for transitional housing.
The expansion is particularly meaningful for people already receiving care in Smiths Falls, who will now have access to additional services in Brockville.
At Friday’s ribbon cutting, a client named Bonnie shared how the Smiths Falls HART Hub helped change her life.
Bonnie is now celebrating nearly 11 months of sobriety.
Her experience reflects the progress already being made locally. According to LLGAMH, five clients at the Smiths Falls facility have moved from treatment into supportive housing, while two others have moved into their own rental accommodations.
The new Brockville location will build on that work, giving residents throughout the region more opportunities to receive treatment and rebuild their lives.
LLGAMH CEO Kim Gifford also addressed concerns raised by residents living near the new Brockville facility.
Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes MPP Steve Clark says the opening marks an important investment in addiction recovery.
Both locations are provincially funded and offer clients access to a range of supports, including counselling, primary health care, employment assistance and help finding stable housing.
People can refer themselves to the program, with services available at no additional cost.
