Ontario Premier Doug Ford responded to reports that there’s a potential teaching shortage looming as early as 2027.
He said at a news conference Wednesday, there won’t be one.
Ford didn’t offer any additional remarks about how they intend to ensure that’s the case.
A report from the Canadian Press says a shortage is possible as teacher retirement and student enrolment are both on the rise, and many school boards are having trouble recruiting.
Ford says they’ve hired 7,500 teachers and TA’s since taking office.
