Lanark County Council has approved the 2025 budget, which includes a 3% overall increase and a focus on “Renewed Energy.”
The county will collect $45 million in property taxes, up from $43 million in 2024. Key projects for the year include 41 kilometers of road improvements, $2.5 million for bridge repairs, and 15 new affordable housing units.
The budget also includes investments in long-term care, social services, and public works.
Notably, long-term care funding has been increased to support staffing needs at Lanark Lodge, and housing initiatives have been bolstered with additional funding for the Portable Housing Benefit and housing stock upgrades.
With an emphasis on sustainability, the budget includes $17.5 million for capital investment, including energy efficiency upgrades.
Taxpayers with properties assessed at $500,000 will see a $60 increase in the county portion of their tax bill.
