There’s about 200 accessible defibrillators across Lanark County’s public buildings, according to Commander of Lanark County Community Paramedicine Janice Steele.
The paramedicine program took charge of the long-standing program last year, which Steele said required taking inventory.
While it may seem like an intimidating piece of equipment, Steele assures everyone the life-saving technology is simplified.
While the machine knows when to shock a person, it also knows when not to, so an individual shouldn’t worry about doing something wrong.
Steele said their goal is to have this life-saving technology in as many buildings as possible because you never know when a heart attack will occur.
