The RCL Automotive Build a Mountain of Food campaign wrapped up another strong week as Portland and Merrickville residents stepped up with major support.
In Portland, volunteers collected 2,250 pounds of food and $19,073.86 in cash, marking one of the community’s biggest single-week contributions of the season. The cash and food goes directly to the Portland Food Bank.
Merrickville also delivered, adding 1,800 pounds of food and $875 in donations to help local families heading into the holidays through the Lions Club Christmas Hamper Campaign.
Organizers say the momentum is exactly what the campaign needs as it enters its final week.
The Build a Mountain team will be on the road again next Saturday, starting the morning in Athens and finishing the afternoon in Delta, hoping to finish this year’s drive on a high note.
