The Athens Food Bank says this Saturday’s RCL Automotive Build a Mountain of Food stop comes at a critical time, with volunteers preparing Christmas hampers and working to restock shelves for the new year.
President Shirley Bernice McLean says they’re looking for some staples. the community has been incredibly generous.
McLean adds that the Athens Food Mart has made it easy to help out.
All donated money goes directly back to clients through grocery vouchers for the Athens Fresh Market and Food Basics, ensuring families can purchase essentials.
McLean adds that Build a Mountain of Food has always been a major boost for Athens.
The event runs from 9 a.m. to noon outside the Athens Fresh Market.
