The Mississippi Mills Community Fund (MMCF) started in 2025 with plans to create an endowment that will help local charitable activities and programs for generations to come. The Fund recently launched their first major fundraiser, the Founding Circle Campaign. Founding member Jeff Mills tells us of the campaign’s aims.
The goal is to reach $50,000 in donations to kick off the endowment, which through careful and professionally advised investments, will grow to fund grants to help fill a wide variety of community needs as Vice-chair Paddy Vargas explains.
A local advisory group will help decide where to allocate grants. Unlike a one-time fundraiser, the MMCF is designed as a permanent endowment. Donations are invested by the Ottawa Community Foundation, with a portion granted out each year to local charities and community projects. This model aims to preserve the capital, while allowing the Fund to grow steadily over time.
That means a gift made today becomes a gift that keeps giving to the people of Mississippi Mills into the future as Paddy notes.
