88.1 myFM sat down with Mississippi Mills Mayor Christa Lowry to get her views on the events of 2025. One of the many things discussed was the Municipality’s fire training centre. Established in 2019, and located in Almonte, it serves as a regional training centre for fire services.
It offers National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Certification, skills and tactics training, and facility rentals. Christa believes it deserves special recognition.
It earned the distinction during its first year of operation by the Ontario Fire College of being a regional training centre. I
t has drawn attention and participants from across the Province and Far North according to Christa.
The facility is helping many area fire services to keep their crews up to date in training while lowering travel and accommodation costs.
