Intact Public Entities is expected to pay the Town of Smiths Falls for the loss of contents, which spanned 73 pages, from a fire at the public works garage last February.
Public Works and Utilities Director Paul McMunn overwent the formula.
He went to IPE with a proposal to add those sums and divide by two, with the sides agreeing to a payout of $574,198.87.
McMunn said he went to bat for the town.
McMunn said the town won’t replace items which weren’t often used or beyond their shelf life, and council can determine at a later date how to spend any surplus, if there is one.
