The Smiths Falls Police Service has a new date for its Special Olympics Torch Run.
Police say the run will now take place this Saturday at 10 a.m., after being postponed because of poor weather in the forecast.
The route will begin at the Youth Arena and continue through town before finishing at the mall.
Residents are being encouraged to come out, cheer on the runners and support a cause that stays close to home.
Donation buckets will be out along the way, with money raised going to support local Special Olympians.
Smiths Falls Police, the OPP and local athletes are expected to take part in the event.
Police are thanking the community for its support so far, including donations made during the recent voluntary toll, and say Saturday’s run is another chance to help local athletes shine.
