Perth mayoral candidate Isabel Anne McRae says the town needs to come out of the October 2026 municipal election with a clearer plan for growth, money and long-term sustainability.
McRae, a current Perth councillor, says the next council will have to look beyond property taxes as residents continue to feel pressure from rising costs. She says Perth needs to build economic prosperity through more collaboration, stronger advocacy and new revenue streams that can support local services without putting the full burden on taxpayers.
McRae says one priority would be the creation of an economic advisory group to help attract investment, support existing businesses and bring new opportunities to the town.
McRae has lived in Perth for about eight years. She says her late husband, Bruce Monteith, had long wanted to retire in Perth after growing up with a connection to Perth, Scotland. She says the town’s heritage, parks, green space and people helped make it home.
She also points to years of public service and volunteer work, including council committees, the BIA, Chamber of Commerce, climate groups, Volunteer Lanark, the Stewart Park Festival, Toonies for the Table and hospice fundraising.
McRae says she believes that record shows why she is ready to lead. The Candiate says there’s a few things she’d like voters to take with them as they consider a candiadate.
McRae says Perth has the people, history and opportunity to thrive, but needs focused leadership to tap into it.
