A Smiths Falls resident is facing 12 charges after an intimate partner violence investigation allegedly led police to suspected controlled substances.
Smiths Falls police said officers received several 911 calls on July 7 reporting an IPV incident in progress.
Officers responded and found what police described as an active disturbance. A suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
Police said a search following the arrest uncovered a quantity of drugs believed to be controlled substances under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
A 42-year-old Smiths Falls resident has been charged with one count of assault and seven counts of possessing a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.
The accused is also charged with four counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
Police said the person was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
The accused was not publicly identified.
None of the charges has been proven in court.
