Downtown Perth will come alive with shopping, music, food and family activities when the Perth Night Market returns this fall.
The free event will take place Saturday, September 12, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. throughout the town’s historic downtown core.
More than 120 artisans, makers, food vendors, performers and local businesses are expected to take part. Visitors will be able to browse handmade products, shop at downtown stores staying open late and sample food from local vendors and restaurants.
The entertainment lineup includes Bollywood dancing with Kuljit Sodhi, along with performances by Rockabilly Joe, King of the Swingers, Mike Creech and Ompah Dom.
The Rideau Cloggers will also perform during the evening.
Families can visit a petting zoo presented by Stealing the Bloom Farm. Murphys Point Provincial Park will offer an educational demonstration featuring the Grey Rat Snake.
Perth Manager of Tourism and Culture Kathryn Jamieson said the Night Market has become an annual tradition for many residents and visitors. She said organizers continue looking for new ways to make the experience memorable while showcasing the community’s artists, musicians, food and businesses.
Guests are encouraged to visit local restaurants and pubs or pick up takeout and enjoy a meal in Stewart Park while listening to the evening’s entertainment.
A free shuttle service will operate during the event, picking up visitors from designated parking areas around Perth.
Several downtown road closures will also be in place to create a safe, pedestrian-friendly space for shoppers and families.
