A 61-year-old Lanark Highlands Township resident is facing impaired driving charges after Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver in Carleton Place.
Lanark County OPP said officers received a complaint about a possible impaired driver travelling on McNeely Avenue and located the vehicle shortly after 11:30 a.m. on July 24.
Police arrested the driver and transported him to the OPP detachment in Carleton Place for testing.
As a result of the investigation, Marvin Cordick, 61, has been charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and driving a motor vehicle with liquor readily available.
Cordick was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Sept. 14.
Police said his driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days under an administrative driver’s licence suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
