Lanark County’s Business Retention and Expansion program aims to eliminate growth barriers, keep doors open, and bring in new jobs by collecting and implementing a data-driven economic development plan.
Smiths Falls Councillor and small business owner Dawn Quinn applauds the effort.
They’re currently conducting surveys with local business owners and organizations to gauge participation interest and get an idea of local barriers to expansion.
Coordinator Tim Woods provided an example of a common case they’re seeing.
The goal is to develop an action plan by December 2026.
