The Good Food Bank at the Table CFC is heading into one of its busiest periods of the year, just as myFM prepares to rally Perth residents for the annual All Hands on Deck Food Drive.
The third annual drive takes place Thursday, Aug. 20, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Barnabe’s Independent Grocer and Metro Perth.
Good Food Bank Co-lead Coral McMahon says late summer can leave the organization in a difficult position as supplies collected earlier in the year begin disappearing.
At the same time, September brings another challenge.
Families preparing children for school often need extra help filling cupboards and packing lunches as household expenses increase.
McMahon says that change is already being felt.
The All Hands on Deck Food Drive gives residents an opportunity to help rebuild those supplies before fall.
myFM staff and Table CFC volunteers will be accepting donations at both Perth grocery stores throughout the six-hour campaign.
Food, lunch supplies and financial contributions are all welcome.
