The Ontario Provincial Police have confirmed a third set of human remains found on a property northeast of Smiths Falls belongs to missing resident Lawrence Bertrim.
Police found the remains on August 6th on Kelly Jordan Road.
A postmortem examination identified Bertrim, who was 42 when he disappeared.
Sergeant Erin Cranton spoke to the public’s fear in a published video.
Bertrim was last seen downtown Smiths Falls around 11 p.m. on Sept. 30, 2022. No charges have been laid in Bertrim’s investigation.
The first set of remains found on this property was in October 2025, and they belonged to Robbie Thomson, who disappeared in 2023.
Four people have been charged in connection with Thomson’s death.
The second set, found July 20th, was identified as 75-year-old Robert Lambert, who disappeared in 2018. No arrests have been made in that case.
A $50,000 reward remains available for information leading to an arrest and conviction in Bertrim’s disappearance.
