The Tragically Hip’s iconic farewell concert will return to the big screen in Almonte this month.
The live screening of The Tragically Hip: A National Celebration will take place Saturday, August 22, at 7 p.m. in the parking area at Almonte Old Town Hall, at 14 Bridge Street.
The free outdoor event will give residents a chance to relive the band’s final performance, which was broadcast across Canada in 2016 and watched by an estimated one-third of the country.
Organizers say the screening will take place outdoors on the banks of the Mississippi River, where previous Raptors viewing parties have been held.
Residents are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and gather with friends to celebrate the music and legacy of one of Canada’s most beloved bands.
If it rains, the screening will move indoors to the Old Town Hall auditorium. Indoor seating will be limited.
The event is presented by CBC and The Tragically Hip.
