A scroll through the Smiths Falls Community Food Bank’s Facebook page tells a bigger story than a simple list of donations.
Executive Director Natalia Soteroff says the posts offer a glimpse at the wide range of people, businesses, schools and community groups helping keep the food bank going.
Not every supporter wants public recognition, but Soteroff says the posts give the organization a chance to spotlight those who are comfortable being featured.
Support comes in many forms. Local businesses and larger companies contribute, while students and community organizations organize collections and lend a hand. Duncan J. students, for example, hold an annual food drive and have created laminated placemats with messages for the food bank.
Soteroff says that variety shows how many different parts of the community are involved.
Another opportunity to join that community effort arrives Thursday, Aug. 27.
The first 92.3 WOW FM All Hands on Deck Food Drive runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Jonsson’s Independent Grocer in Smiths Falls, supporting the Smiths Falls Community Food Bank.
